Mine and Quarry Design and Permitting

MEA provides geotechnical services for prospective or active mines. In order to get a cohesive picture of the geologic profile that will be mined, MEA coordinates and conducts a geologic/geotechnical investigation that is supplemented with in-house soil/rock mechanics testing and a detailed analysis of geologic engineering conditions. Coupled with computational analysis and modeling, MEA can design underground mines for low to high extraction. Similar analysis can be provided for strip mines and quarries.

The comprehensive design that MEA provides includes, but is not limited to, permitting services, reserve estimations, pillar and floor stability, roof support requirements, and coal waste impoundment facilities.
